Do you love chicken? Do you love efficiency

1 bird, 17 meals, thousands of memories
The stretchability of a whole chicken is a frequently discussed topic among food and frugality bloggers. It’s commonly accepted that a single fowl will feed a family of 11 for weeks, years - even millennia. Even after 20 months of keeping CHG, I’m constantly gobsmacked by how moms and dads can create dinner after dinner from the same bird.
Here’s the thing: sometimes, those dinners aren’t the healthiest meals in the world. There tend to be a lot of quesadillas and casseroles whenever these type of posts pop up, not to mention chicken salads drenched with full-fat mayo. Now, there’s nothing wrong with this whatsoever (except the mayo - blech), but I wanted to see if I could put a healthier spin on it.
In a sentence: I wanted to find out if it was possible to create a gaggle of inexpensive, lower-fat meals with the leftovers from one big ol’ chicken.
Here were my rules:CHECK OUT THE REST AND RECIPES HERE
- The budget – for EVERYTHING - was $25.
- I had to use as much food already in my pantry as possible. (Which accounted for a lot, and saved me mad dough in the long run.)
- Each meal had to feed at least two people (The Boyfriend and me).
- Bonus points for leftovers.
- The chicken had to be used up within a few days, so it wouldn’t go bad.
- The meals had to have reasonable variety, preferably from a range of cuisines. It couldn’t be Chicken with Spaghetti on Day 1, then Chicken with Penne on Day 2.
- The meals had to have very little added fat, since the leftover chicken would provide most of it.

Hershey Meltdown Looms After Cadbury Clash With Trust
Hershey’s failure to find a way to combine with Cadbury --a traditional British company with a compatible culture -- is the story of two men who stood in each other’s way on the same side of the $19 billion takeover lost to Northfield, Illinois-based Kraft Foods Inc. Their rift, as recounted in interviews with more than a dozen executives, board members, and advisers who spoke on the condition of anonymity, shows how Hershey missed its last chance to attain Cadbury’s global scale, especially in the faster-growing emerging markets of Latin America and India.

Up to Kraft CEO to ensure sweet deal doesn't turn sour
So when she met last week with employees at Cadbury's headquarters near London, "There were a lot of mixed emotions," Rosenfeld said in an interview with the Tribune on Friday. "But they were incredibly gracious."
And at Kraft's Northfield headquarters Friday, the reception Rosenfeld received from employees at a town hall meeting was downright ceremonial. She received a standing ovation.

MMMMM or EWWWWW
What do you all think of this new Big Mac Snack Wrap? Have you seen the advertisement?
Here are my thoughts on the ad - Why are they showing the cut side of the burger? It really creeps me out. Also, the premise of it is kind of weird. Some guy talking to his food in a seductive way . . . . yuckles.
Website song is solid though - http://www1.mcdonalds.com/macsnackwrap/#/home

Chain restaurants such as KFC, Uno and Starbucks are finding that calories count
Readers of this blog may be surprised to learn that some chains are cutting back on calories:
Washington Post
If enacted, the health-care reform law would mandate that chains with more than 20 outlets must post calories on the menu in a "clear and conspicuous" manner and provide complete nutritional information upon request. Public-health advocates hope the rules go into effect within two years.
Whether disclosing calories on a menu will change consumer behavior remains the subject of contentious debate, but a new study supports the idea that it can: An analysis of 100 million transactions over 14 months at Starbucks by researchers at Stanford University showed that when calories were posted prominently, the average number of calories per transaction fell by 6 percent.

Eat Taco Bell and Lose Weight?
Bloggers are having a field day over Taco Bell's new ad campaign that takes a page from Subway's iconic Jared effort. The Mexican fast-food chain's push introduces Christine Dougherty, a "real-life Taco Bell customer" who lost 54 pounds over a two-year period by replacing her usual fast-food lunch or dinner with an item from Taco Bell's Fresco menu. Ms. Dougherty, who exercised and cut her daily caloric intake from 1,750 to 1,250 per day, admits in the ads that her "results aren't typical, but for me, they're fantastic!" Taco Bell's creative agency is DraftFCB, Irvine, Calif.

Pitching a Product, Without Showing It

Reminiscent of the Dove “Campaign for Real Beauty” introduced in 2004 that featured curvy women, the new Special K ads also star women who are “not an idealized and unattainable image of perfection,” as marketing materials from Kellogg put it.
“In the past, we had cast women more in terms of their success at the end, but the object of these spots is just to get women to declare their vision,” said Mylene Pollock, a senior vice president and creative director at Leo Burnett who worked on the campaign.
